In 2009, she was the U.S. Attorney Liz Lawrence in CBS's legal drama The Good Wife. In 2018, McDonald took on the role of Liz Reddick as a regular in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. She got three Critics Choice Award nods for this performance. She is currently appearing as a guest in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
